I needed new comfortable sandals. But sturdy too, so they could handle my sweaty feet (I have hyperhidrosis, a condition that makes you sweat a lot).
So, like everyone, I started by googling “women’s sandals”. And oh, Boy. 575 Million results! So overwhelming! So many options! I didn’t know where to start! Are they gonna be comfortable? Are they gonna be trendy enough? But they need to have a timeless style too! Wait, what should I google now?
We’ve all gone through that Google search black hole, right? Spending hours searching for something, being overwhelmed, trying again and again for weeks.
Well, you know what? I ended up spending hours searching for sandals online, so I might as well share my short list of winners! You’re welcome 🙂
But like any good scientist, we first need to set criteria for our research!
What criteria define the perfect pairs of flat sandals for sweaty feet (or regular ones!) ?
I put that list of sandals together working from the below assumptions. The perfect sandals need to:
- Be walking sandals, so flat ideally
- Feel comfortable – that means no painful thongs or straps, and with a cushy footbed in suede or cork (no plastic) that is not slippery
- Be breathable – so no plastic or synthetic fabric that makes us uncomfortable and sweaty, but natural fabrics like suede, crochet, leather or cotton
- Be of good quality – it’s smarter to buy a slightly more expensive pair we can keep for a lifetime, than buy cheap bad quality ones every year, plus it will be more comfortable too
- Come in several colors – when your feet get sweaty, you want to avoid pastel or light suede that would show sweat stains too much, so there has to be black or white options
- Look trendy and timeless at the same time– that one is tricky, we want something to be trendy but not too much so that we can keep wearing them the following years for any occasion, right?

Platform shoes are comfortable to walk in, absorb shocks, and their large straps keep the feet in place and hide sweaty feet a bit more than flip-flop type of shoes.
Birkenstock-like sandals have become a classic pair of shoes to own (like a little black dress!). Thanks God comfort has finally become fashionable!
The platform sandals in the selection below are all made with leather instead of plastic fabrics, and have styles & shapes that should age well, so you can keep wearing them year after year:

The 8 Most comfortable SLINGBACK sandals for sweaty feet
Slingback sandals are amazing, because the strap holds your foot making it more comfortable to walk. That also prevents these sweaty feet from sliding out of the shoes.
I’m personally a big fan of the Mexican sandals (called ‘Huaraches’) as they are made of genuine leather, simple, and affordable.
All slingbacks in the selection below are made of leather and have rather classic looks, so they don’t go out of style too quickly:

If you’re ready to wear some heels but still wanna be comfy, I also put together a list of the most comfortable wedges for sweaty feet.
It all starts with picking the right shoes, but once you’ve done that, you still want to make sure you use insoles, powders, etc., as needed to help with the sweat. I wrote about my tricks for dealing with sweaty feet without ruining your shoes here.
