Your breast is sweating, your bra is wet, and sweat marks may even show through your t-shirt: yep, it’s that damn boob sweat! No worries, I feel you, we all deal with it!
Not only is boob sweat uncomfortable, it can also give us skin irritation (that bra rubbing on swamped skin is the worst). There is no miracle cure (we can’t stop being women!), but there are a few tricks we can use to reduce it at least!
1: Pick the right fabric for your bras
As for clothes, picking the right fabric for your bra is key in reducing breast sweat. Avoid synthetic fabrics that are not breathable and pick cotton, lace, or mesh instead.
2: Avoid bras with wires
Underwires rub against the skin, so if the skin is wet it can cause irritations, skin tags, skin rash, etc. Ideally, you’ll want to go with a bra that’s stretchy, comfy, and wire-free. If you have smaller boobs you can definitely enjoy the wire-free bras! For bigger boobs, it’s a bit tougher to find a wire-free bra that offers support, but I’m sure it must exist (I’m taking recommendations!).
3: Avoid padded bras
Padded bras are obviously the worst for under breast sweat. It’s not breathable, it’s warm, and I don’t know about you but I don’t think it maintains boobs in place at all! And we don’t need to make our boobs look bigger anyways, they are already perfect!
4: Or wear no bra
If you have a smaller breast, you can try wearing no bra! It’s definitely more manageable because your breast is not so much work to carry.
But no matter the size of our breasts, we can go bra-free as often as we can (in the winter under a large sweater, at home being lazy, etc.!)
And if you’re afraid to have your nipples showing through your t-shirt you can always try nipple covers (‘pasties’).
The most famous brand of nipple covers is the Hollywood Fashion Secret one that you can find on Amazon:
5: Wipe it away
As a quick fix (during a bathroom break for example), you can always wipe the breast sweat away with a wipe or paper towel, which will help a bit but not enough since the bra itself will still be wet. At least it will freshen you up, which is still something!
I found a few places online where they say you can stick menstrual pads under your bra to absorb the sweat under your breast. I’m having a hard time with this idea but maybe it works for you!
6: Pick the right fabric & colors for your T-shirts
This one is my favorite. No matter how hard you try, you may still get boob sweat and have sweat marks show through your t-shirt. So if you can’t completely fix it, it’s safer to just make sure any sweat marks will be hidden! The best way to do so? Simple white or black clothes. Ideally in cotton or other natural fibers.
I wrote an article on how to pick t-shirts that won’t show sweat.
Conclusion
Again, there is no miracle solution to stop boob sweat, but at least we can reduce the sweat by carefully shopping for our bras AND clothes! If you have other tricks to reduce boob sweat, please let me know in the comments!
If the sweat is really profuse and it’s on other parts of your body like your face, your hands, etc. then consider seeing a dermatologist as you may have hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating condition) or some other condition.
Hopefully finding the right bra should help out already! 🙂
